Starting your first year, you鈥檒l gain valuable performance experience through a variety of large and small ensembles, workshops with guest artists, apprentice programs, master classes and state and national competitions. You can also specialize your degree to explore and shape your particular musical interests and career paths.

Graduates of our program go on to diverse careers in music, or continue their studies in graduate programs in the United States and internationally.

Types of Music Degrees

We offer a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree.

  • The Bachelor of Arts provides a broad, liberal education with a concentration in music. It includes four concentrations (General, Music Theory, Music History and Music Composition).
  • The Bachelor of Music degree offers intensive specialization for those desiring professional training in music performance.

We also offer two music minors鈥攐ne with a performance emphasis, and another with an academic emphasis.

Most of our students who earn a degree in music performance will continue on to graduate music degree programs or artist diploma programs in the United States or Europe.

Bachelor of Arts degree graduates have a variety of opportunities. Some have continued on to graduate study in their specialized concentration, others have found careers as performing musicians, private teachers, composers and arrangers.
