Welcome!
OneTree ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ is a STEAM (STEM + Arts) program affiliated with the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station of the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks.
OneTree ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ’s mission is to engage learners of all ages in boreal forest education, citizen science and forest product development. It is centrally concerned with phenology, seasonality and climate change. Phenology is the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena, especially in relation to climate and plant and animal life.
OneTree ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ STEAM integrated research and citizen science projects are made possible through collaboration with K-12 teachers, the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, university students, staff and faculty, and many community partners.
The local boreal forest is our foundation and inspires our work. Please see our recent projects, and share your expertise.
Celebrate the Snow Moon with OneTree ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ
The February full moon is called the Snow Moon and OneTree ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ is inviting snow lovers to celebrate it by skiing out to the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks’ T-Field.
Participants can ski through the four-acre Generation OneTree birch installation, which is usually locked, from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12. They can also visit birch trees that have been claimed by Tree Stewards and consider adopting a tree as their own. This will be OneTree's last full moon event of winter 2025.
Stay for an hour or the afternoon and bring a thermos with your favorite hot drink. Park and walk from West Ridge ski hut on the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Troth Yeddha' Campus or the Large Animal Research Station at 2220 Yankovich Road.
