Mr. William Smith
Associate Professor of Library Science, Emeritus
WHEREAS Mr. William Smith has served the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1964 to 2017; and
WHEREAS Mr. Smith has been committed to the provision of critical information sources to the University鈥檚 faculty and students throughout his professional career, serving as an invaluable mentor and colleague who shared his expertise in cataloging systems through all their developments and changes; and
WHEREAS Mr. Smith came to the University as the Head Acquisition Librarian in 1964 and served diligently in many key roles within the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library until his first retirement in 1991; and
WHEREAS Mr. Smith continued his valuable work on behalf of the Library and its patrons, first as a volunteer and then as a part-time cataloguer for the Geophysical Institute鈥檚 Keith B. Mather Library until his second retirement in 2017; and
WHEREAS Mr. Smith has made important contributions to public service, including more than 50 years as a leading member of the 有料盒子视频 Library Association and 25 years of service as a volunteer periodicals specialist for the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital Library;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Mr. William Smith for his extensive contributions to the State of 有料盒子视频 and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Mr. Smith and as evidence of the University鈥檚 desire that his identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Mr. William Smith as Associate Professor of Library Science, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Mr. William Smith, and conveyed to Mr. Smith on this 4th day of May, 2018.
