Dr. Susan Renes
Associate Professor of Counseling, Emeritus
WHEREAS Dr. Susan Renes has served the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and service from 2007 to 2019; and
WHEREAS Dr. Renes’ students rate her as an exceptional teacher, and she has strengthened the counseling program’s curriculum by improving courses and incorporating Indigenous insights; and
WHEREAS Dr. Renes has researched methods of improving mental and physical health in a changing ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ, has collaborated on developing and expanding the behavioral health workforce in rural and medically underserved areas, and has studied the challenge of teacher retention in rural ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ; and
WHEREAS Dr. Renes led the guidance and counseling program to accreditation, has chaired programs at the School of Education and has made several dozen research presentations, while also assisting with the editorial processes of several journals; and
WHEREAS Dr. Renes has received several awards, including a Chancellor’s Innovation in Technology and eLearning Fellowship and the Elders Award at the annual Lilly Arctic Institute on Innovations and Excellence in Teaching;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Susan Renes for her extensive contributions to the State of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Renes and as evidence of the University’s desire that her identification with the University be maintained, hereby confers upon Dr. Susan Renes the title of Associate Professor of Counseling, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor as further evidence of the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks’ esteem and respect for Dr. Susan Renes, and conveyed to Dr. Renes on this fourth day of May, 2019.
