Dr. Charles Mayer
Professor of Electrical Engineering and
Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Mines, Emeritus
WHEREAS Dr. Charles Mayer has served the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1989 to 2021; and
WHEREAS Dr. Mayer taught not only upper-division and graduate classes but also, more recently, the first-year introductory course, where he shared insights from his career with more than two thousand aspiring engineers; and he served as committee chair for eleven graduate students; and
WHEREAS Dr. Mayer pioneered research in the field of millimeter radio wave holography, applying it to the metrology of large reflector antennas to improve high-frequency performance; and he analyzed the high-speed radio transmission of data via NASA鈥檚 groundbreaking Advanced Communications Technology Satellite; and
WHEREAS Dr. Mayer served as department chair for fourteen years and associate dean for thirteen years; and he helped create the engineering doctorate and computer engineering undergraduate degree programs; and he served over four decades with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, including fifteen years overseeing student chapters across the northwestern U.S.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation for Dr. Charles Mayer鈥檚 extensive contributions to the State of 有料盒子视频 and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Mayer and as evidence of the University鈥檚 desire that his identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the recognition of Dr. Charles Mayer as Professor of Electrical Engineering and Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Mines, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Charles Mayer, and conveyed to Dr. Mayer on this first day of May, 2021.
