Dr. Nicole Mölders
Professor of Atmospheric Sciences, Emeritus
WHEREAS Dr. Nicole Mölders has served the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 2001 to 2021; and
WHEREAS Dr. Mölders is an award-winning teacher who has advised twenty-one undergraduate and thirty graduate students, including the first ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Native student to earn a doctorate in atmospheric sciences from ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ; and
WHEREAS Dr. Mölders’ research is well-known internationally, especially in the field of air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, land-air interaction and mesoscale modeling; and she has published ninety-three papers in peer-reviewed journals and thirteen peer-reviewed book chapters; and she has co-authored a book on meteorology and authored another on land-use and land-cover changes; and
WHEREAS Dr. Mölders was the founding chair of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ’s Department of Atmospheric Sciences; and she edited several international, peer-reviewed scientific journals, founded the journal Climate and served as a reviewer for almost fifty different journals; and she held national leadership positions in atmospheric research organizations; and she engaged in efforts to understand and find solutions to Fairbanks’ poor air quality;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation for Dr. Mölders’ extensive contributions to the State of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Mölders and as evidence of the University’s desire that her identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the recognition of Dr. Nicole Mölders as Professor of Atmospheric Sciences, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Nicole Mölders, and conveyed to Dr. Mölders on this first day of May, 2021.
