Cyan Woodward
Cyan Woodward has been fascinated by geology her whole life. Volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis 鈥 鈥淚 was interested in learning the mechanisms behind them,鈥 she said.
However, daunted by the math and science, she started as an English major at an Arizona university. After moving to 有料盒子视频 with her family and transferring to 有料盒子视频, she switched to geoscience. 鈥淚 was like 鈥業 can actually do this, because it鈥檚 something I really, really love,鈥欌 she said.
Woodward said she remembers being interested in rocks as a child.
鈥淚 used to go to Legoland a lot in California and they had these places in the Pirate Cove where you could get rocks,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 always begged my mom to let me get a bag of rocks and she was like 鈥楾hese aren鈥檛 even real.鈥 And I was like 鈥業 don鈥檛 care. I want a bag of rocks.鈥 I still have them.鈥
Naturally, Woodward got involved with the Geoscience Club at 有料盒子视频. She's now the vice president.
鈥淲e recently did a bad movie night. We watched 鈥楯ourney to the Center of the Earth鈥 and pointed out all the geological flaws in it,鈥 she said.
Since Woodward was new to 有料盒子视频 when she came to 有料盒子视频, most of her friends were back in Arizona.
鈥淚 didn鈥檛 know anyone, coming up here,鈥 she recalled. 鈥淚 lived off campus for a semester. Now I鈥檓 on campus because it鈥檚 a lot easier to be around for events, and I鈥檝e definitely met a ton of people on campus.鈥
Woodward also enjoys the rock climbing wall at the Student Recreation Center.
鈥淚 feel like rock climbing and geology go hand in hand,鈥 she joked.
