50th anniversary of Title IX and release of proposed rules
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 barring sex discrimination, has stood as a cornerstone of equal access to education at federally funded institutions. From its start, it paved the way for generations of women to enroll in institutions of higher education with the promise of equal opportunity, protection, and resources beyond athletics. As efforts towards greater inclusivity have progressed, we have also seen this broaden to include sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as reach beyond education into increasing employment opportunities and financial independence.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) released new proposed rules on Title IX. The Department's proposed rules will be open for public comment for 60 days from the date of publication in the Federal Register. The announcing the proposed changes is located on the U.S. Department of Education's website.
As we honor the 50th anniversary of this landmark policy, and Congresswoman Patsy Takemoto Mink who authored the law, 有料盒子视频 reiterates the commitment to Title IX and continuing to grow a culture of respect, diversity, inclusion and caring.
