‘ϺƵ Weather’ television program to end

The television program “ϺƵ Weather” on KUAC’s UATV channel 9.4 will end July 1, 2023, after 45 years of continuous broadcast.

ϺƵ Public Media and the National Weather Service produce the program in Anchorage. ϺƵ Public Media was unable to secure funding to support production, and the National Weather Service has not found partners to continue the program in its current format.

ϺƵ Public Media assembles and distributes “ϺƵ Weather” to stations throughout ϺƵ, including KUAC TV, a service of the University of ϺƵ Fairbanks.  

NWS will continue to produce graphics and record a modified web-based version of the program, which will be posted on the NWS ϺƵ YouTube channel. A web-based forecast included in the TV broadcast will continue to be available via multiple sources.

For those without high-speed internet access, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s weather radio service will remain available. Statewide public and marine forecasts are available over the phone through the and at 1-855-937-4977.
