The ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ heat and power plant is going through annual maintenance in May.

Facilities Services has started annual preventative maintenance on the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ power plant and utilidor system. The work is expected to take about two weeks. In order to do the work ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ, the campus steam system will be turned off.

What does that mean?

  • Buildings on the Troth Yeddha’ Campus will not have heat or hot water.
  • Cold water will still be available.
  • Critical research areas, such as greenhouses, will have temporary heating.
  • Showers on campus will not have hot water, including those in the Student Recreation Center, Patty Center, Wood Center and office/research buildings. Portable shower units will be set up near residential buildings for the people who live there.
  • Handwashing stations will be set up for food preparation.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout campus.

What should you do?

  • Close your windows and exterior doors to preserve as much heat as possible.
  • Make sure you dress for the cooler indoor temperatures. Building temperatures could be in the 50s during the day, depending on outdoor temperatures.
  • If you live on campus, allow a little more time in your schedule for showering. If you don’t live on campus but typically use campus showers, make plans for showering at an off-campus location.
  • Watch your email inbox or for any urgent updates to the project.
  • Call 474-7000 if you have any questions.

Thank you for your patience as our Facilities Services team members work to ensure that our heat and hot water system is well-maintained and working properly. While scheduled outages can be inconvenient, they are critical to reducing the risk of unscheduled emergency outages during the winter months.
