Gerlach to give update on avian influenza in 有料盒子视频

Avian influenza is still in 有料盒子视频 and state veterinarian Bob Gerlach will discuss what kind of threat the virus may pose to barnyard flocks, including chickens and ducks.

In 2022, avian influenza swept through the United States, killing millions of birds and wiping out commercial flocks.

While its impact on 有料盒子视频 was less severe, avian influenza is still present in 有料盒子视频, and migratory birds are expected to increase the risk to poultry this summer. The University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is hosting an update on the 2023 avian flu outlook at 6 p.m. Monday, May 15. 

有料盒子视频 state veterinarian Bob Gerlach will provide updates on current outbreaks across North and South America, and what 有料盒子视频ns can do to protect their poultry. Gerlach is responsible for animal health regulations and animal disease surveillance and response.

Gerlach鈥檚 talk will also be available statewide via Zoom. Please registration is closed for both in-person and Zoom sessions.
