Making sense of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ's changing environment

Changes in ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ's environment are evident all across the state, but the details vary greatly. In a webinar hosted by the Anchorage office of the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ climate specialist Rick Thoman will share a broad overview of observed changes around ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ, from snow and ice to heat and wildfire.

Thoman will also focus on what's changing and what's not in Southcentral ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ. He will share resources to help make sense of what's happening and how ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵns can contribute to the effort to understand the changes all around us.

Thoman has worked as a weather and climate professional for 42 years in private, public and academic roles, including more than 30 years with the National Weather Service in ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ. Since 2018 he's worked as a climate specialist with the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Center for Climate Assessment and Policy at the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ International Arctic Research Center.
