One-day food preservation class planned in Homer

Learn to preserve meat and vegetables in jars 有料盒子视频 during a one-day class in Homer.
Julie Cascio, a health, home and family development agent with the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, will teach the class. Participants will learn how to heat-process low-acid food in jars; use and care for a pressure canner; prepare meat, fish and vegetables to place in jars; and make stock and soup.
Participants in this hands-on class also will learn to determine if the canned product is correctly processed and sealed, as well as how to store canned food. If time allows, Cascio will discuss general tips for freezing foods. This is a lab, so bring an apron to wear.
The class will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, at The Classic Cook Kitchen, 378 East Pioneer Ave., Homer. The cost is $25.
