Joining a dual enrollment program at the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks is a great way to get started on college earlier while earning credit toward high school graduation. To make your transition between high school and college as smooth as possible, you'll have access to student support services to help you succeed at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ and beyond.
Tracking your student’s grades
Now is a good time to start the conversation on how information is going to be shared with you as a parent from your student. If you'd like access to your child’s information while they're in a dual enrollment program, you'll need to work with your student to have them complete a Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) release. This will give you more access to your student’s information if you reach out on your own. Students are responsible for communication with their professors regarding grades and course material. All grades are reported in the student portal, , and ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ faculty and staff won't give grades over the phone or by email.

Learning and disability accommodations
Students taking ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ courses who have an IEP or a 504 Plan can apply for accommodations through the Office of Disability Services. Disability Services staff work with students to help determine specific accommodations. Common accommodations include providing a note-taker, extra time on tests, transcription and more.
Get your PolarExpress ID card
There are many benefits to having a student ID — even if you're taking online classes. For example, many businesses offer discounts for college students with their student ID!
To get a PolarExpress card, wherever you are, simply fill out the electronic application (requires login). After submitting your application, send a photo of yourself (can be a selfie) and a photo of a government-issued ID to ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ-Bursar@alaska.edu.

AHEAD Dual Enrollment Student Support
The ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Higher Education Admission Decision (AHEAD) program lets qualified high school students be formally admitted to the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks as general studies majors. To qualify, students must have completed three-fourths of their high school core curriculum and have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher. (To qualify for federal financial aid, you must have either a high school diploma or a GED.
Choosing a major
As an AHEAD student, you’ll enter the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks as a general studies student. By the end of your sophomore year, you'll need to choose a specific major to pursue. Find a proctor for tests and placement exams
While taking online courses at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ is easy and convenient, finding a proctor to provide and watch over exams can be hard if you don’t know where to look. There are approved proctors all over ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ so, you can take exams wherever you live.
North Star College Dual Enrollment Student Services
North Star College is designed to give Fairbanks North Star Borough School District high school students an early experience of campus life. Students in North Star College take classes at the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks campus and can even participate in campus organizations and events.
