The Graduate School Student Advisory Board

About the GSSAB

The GSSAB members will have the opportunity to identify graduate student issues they wish to address as well those of concern to the graduate school. Typical areas that the graduate school would like the GSSAB members to provide advice and guidance include the following;

  • Advocate for all graduate students at the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks.
  • Facilitate communication between the graduate school and graduate students.
  • Feedback to the graduate school on graduate school policies and graduate issues that arise in the Associated Students of the University of 有料盒子视频 Fairbanks (AS有料盒子视频) and Faculty Senate.
  • Plan new student orientation.
  • Develop professional development programming
  • Provide input on graduate school social media, web presence, and outreach.
  • Act as a liaison between graduate school and graduate student organizations.
  • Report constituent feedback and insights on graduate student issues.
  • Plan social activities sponsored by the graduate school.
  • Provide a sense of community/connection for graduate students.

The board members serve one year. The board meets monthly during the semester. One of the board members serves as chair. The GSSAB will receive administrative support from the graduate school that provides the board information to support their deliberations (e.g., budget, policies, BOR policies, etc.). The GSSAB chair and committee communicate their concerns, findings and recommendations with the director of the graduate school. The GSSAB members also recruit new members, develop meeting agendas, meeting protocols, membership responsibilities, and board make-up.
