It is nice to acknowledge the feeling of welcome extends to all UA campuses, not just ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ.

Nanook Recreation fall group fitness

Nanook Recreation is offering a variety of fitness classes for the fall semester. We will offer some familiar programs such as Intro to Strength Training, Intermediate Strength Training, Intro to Olympic Weightlifting, Mat Pilates, Outdoor Bootcamp, and Indoor Cycling. Classes are being added through the fall so keep checking in to our group fitness calendar for the latest offerings.

The NSF I-Corps Site program: Customer Discovery

At Center ICE, we provide a six-week National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Site (I-Corps) program to accelerate academic research and startup business projects that are ready to move toward commercialization. Through the I-Corps program, teams complete 15 – 20 interviews over the six weeks. The closing date for the next cohort is 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3.

Friday Focus: Transformative academic journey

This past week I participated in some of my favorite events at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ, welcoming students to the start of a new fall semester. All week, hundreds of new ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ students came onto campus from across the state and around the world to start their educational journey. Each one of them took a unique path to get to this starting line, and each one of them will make the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ experience their own. This year's incoming first-year students are arriving at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ at a time of great transition and opportunity.

And we at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ are busy preparing for the start of the new academic year. Our various campuses from Dillingham to Fairbanks and everywhere in between are teeming with the energy of students, faculty and staff. It is a great time to be a part of the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ community. An aspect of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ that I appreciate most is our enduring commitment to increasing the accessibility of higher education.

Construction on the new ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Student Success Center will kick off on Monday, Aug. 21. Contractors from GHEMM Company, LLC will erect fencing around the south side of the Rasmuson Library to serve as their staging area. The walking deck around the library will also be closed.
