    Friday Focus: Celebrate our accomplishments

    May 12, 2023

At ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ, we have a lot to celebrate. Last week we celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating class at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ's 101st commencement ceremony. The evening before, we conferred honorary doctorates, meritorious service awards and emeritus status to retiring faculty and staff in a ceremony at the Davis Concert Hall. To top off an exciting week, last night we held our signature fundraiser -- the Chancellor's Blue and Gold Celebration in the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Troth Yeddha' campus student union. Our community came together to recognize the Emil Usibelli Teaching, Research and Service awardees and raise funds to support student scholarships. That evening, donors gave over $435,000 to student scholarships, including a generous gift of $350,000 from Kinross ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ!

Friday Focus: The beat goes on!

    May 05, 2023

For many, tomorrow marks the end of the term and the end of the academic year. The end is upon us! It is a huge relief. Commencement is tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Carlson Center. If you usually go, I will see you there. If you don't usually attend, I encourage you to go. The event and ceremony provide a moment of clarity for the meaning of our collective endeavor like few others. It is a wonderful and affirming way to finish the year. At the same time, for many here at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ, this weekend marks the beginning of summer as much or even more than the end of the spring semester. It marks the beginning of a whole new and different season of our efforts.
